What we did

Antenatal Results and Choices (ARC) is a fantastic small charity that provides a vital service for pregnant women and their families. It’s one of those charities that most people would never need to encounter, but an absolute lifeline when something happens and they suddenly find themselves Googling for help.

ARC provides advice to people whose antenatal scans have identified a potential abnormality. This can come as quite a shock to parents-to-be and it’s a really anxious time. The charity’s website and its helpline provide impartial advice and support and helps people understand their options.

We helped ARC to completely rebuild and redesign their website. Their old site was built with an outdated and clunky CMS and so we started afresh in WordPress. They work in one of those niches where photography/imagery is a tricky issue. Photos of healthy, smiling babies aren’t appropriate. And the stock photos of women having sonograms are invariably really cheesy and equally inappropriate to the situation that many of the site’s visitors will find themselves in.

We made use of some generic stock images just to add a bit of visual interest to the pages but the sites doesn’t make a feature of them. It’s a deliberately clean and fresh design where the text content and navigation is the clear priority.

The site includes a membership system linked to Stripe card payments and the ability to book events (with the added functionality of discounts automatically applied to members and for multi-day bookings).
